Hasselblad Firmware Tracker: Current Versions for Every X System Camera, Lens, and 907X Back

Hasselblad ships firmware quietly. New versions for lenses, adapters, and camera bodies appear on the download servers with no announcement, no changelog email, and no date stamped anywhere on the page. If you own an X2D II and a few XCD lenses, you have probably discovered an update months after it went live, if you discovered it at all.

This page fixes that. The tables below list the current firmware for every X System body, every XCD lens, every adapter and converter that takes firmware, and the 907X / CFV digital backs, pulled daily from Hasselblad's own download data. When Hasselblad publishes a new version, this page reflects it within a day, along with the official release notes and a direct download link for each file.

One caveat on dates. Hasselblad does not print a release date on the download page itself, but the release notes for most firmware carry a date stamp, and the tables below use it where it exists. When a release ships without a dated document, the date column falls back to the day this site first observed the version, marked accordingly. Checks run daily, so from launch onward even fallback dates are accurate to within a day.

A note on support: This post represents my personal exploration and testing, not official technical support or guidance from Hasselblad. What this page tracks: Current firmware versions for all Hasselblad X System cameras, XCD lenses, lens adapters, and the 907X / CFV digital backs, checked daily against Hasselblad's download servers. Each entry links the official release notes and the firmware file itself, with the release date taken from Hasselblad's release notes where available.

Changelog

  • 2026-07-10 - XCD 2,8-4/35-100E 1.9.15 → 1.9.17 (release notes)

Checked daily. Last change detected: 2026-07-10.

* Released: the date on the English release-notes PDF, parsed from its filename. A date shown as ≈YYYY-MM-DD is approximate: it is the date this tracker first observed the version, used as a fallback when the release notes carry no date. Hasselblad publishes no official release dates.

Firmware files download directly from Hasselblad's CDN (cdn.hasselblad.com). Safari's download prompt may show this site's name because Safari attributes a download to the page you were browsing, not the file's origin.

Get an email when firmware drops

Checking a page is still checking. If you would rather be told, the Firmware Alerts list sends one short email on the day a new version appears for any product in the tables above: what changed, the release notes, and the download link. It is separate from The Hasselblad Companion newsletter, it sends nothing else, and most months that means one or two emails at most.

Firmware Alerts

One short email the day Hasselblad ships new firmware for any X System camera, lens, or adapter. Nothing else, ever.

Before you update

Read the release notes first. Hasselblad does not offer a supported way to roll back firmware, so if a release changes behavior you rely on, you are living with it until the next version. The notes linked above are short; two minutes of reading beats an unwelcome surprise.

A few practical rules that have served me well: update the camera body on a full battery, update lenses through the body with the lens mounted, and never start a firmware update the night before a shoot you care about. If a new version fixes nothing you are affected by, waiting a week while early adopters find the rough edges costs you nothing.

For what each X2D II version actually changed in day-to-day shooting, I keep a separate page: X2D II Firmware Updates Since Launch. It is the editorial companion to this one, narrative where this page is a lookup table.
