Work With Me
If you own an X2D II and Phocus has made you wonder whether you're leaving image quality on the table, you're probably right.
I'm a photographer first. The X2D II is my primary camera, and I'm out shooting with it most weeks. I also happen to have 30 years in tech, including a long stretch building infrastructure at Meta, and that background turned out to be useful when I started trying to understand what Hasselblad's software actually does under the hood.
I wrote the Phocus 4.x guide because Hasselblad didn't. I've filed 19 documented bugs with their engineering team, several reproduced and confirmed. This site exists because there's a gap between what Hasselblad builds and what they document, and someone needed to fill it.
If you're stuck on something specific, I take a limited number of paid engagements each month.
Hasselblad Bug Report Template
$15. The structured template I use for my own Hasselblad bug reports, built from 19 reports filed with engineering since November 2025. Fillable sections for environment, reproduction steps, expected vs actual behavior, evidence, and impact. Includes a guide on evidence collection (ExifTool commands, Phocus log locations, sidecar diffs) and framing advice that gets reports escalated instead of filed away.
What you receive: a 2-page PDF with the template and a companion guide. Works for any Hasselblad product (Phocus for Mac, Phocus Mobile 2, X2D II firmware, camera hardware). Fill it in and send.
Not a fit if you want someone else to write and file the report for you. For that, see the Bug Report Review below.
Hasselblad Bug Report Review
$75. Before you submit your bug report to Hasselblad support, send it to me. I check for technical accuracy, flag anything likely to get it dismissed, suggest better framing, and return it within 48 hours with written feedback.
What you receive: your report returned with inline annotations, suggested rewrites for any sections that could be stronger, and a brief note on whether the issue matches any known bugs I'm already tracking.
Not a fit if the issue is with Capture One, Lightroom, or a third-party plugin.

Phocus Workflow Audit for Hasselblad Shooters
$595. Send me your current Phocus setup: library structure, import workflow, processing pipeline, export settings. Screenshots, screen recordings, or just a written description of how you work. I review everything async and deliver a written report with specific, prioritized recommendations for your shooting style and output targets.
What you receive: a written report covering 8-12 specific recommendations, including export format changes, library restructuring, processing order adjustments, and HNCS pipeline corrections, each with the technical rationale and step-by-step implementation.
Good fit if you've been using Phocus but suspect you're not getting everything out of it, or you're coming from Lightroom/Capture One and want to understand what's different.
Not a fit if you shoot JPEG-only or process exclusively in Lightroom.
Hasselblad HNCS HDR Setup Review
$795. Send me your X2D II capture settings, Phocus 4.x configuration, display/monitor info, and what you're trying to output. I deliver a personalized written setup guide covering the full pipeline: capture through export, calibrated to your specific gear and targets.
What you receive: a personalized setup guide covering Smart Metering configuration, HNCS preset selection, export format decisions (Ultra HDR JPEG vs HDR HEIF vs HDR TIFF), and display verification steps. See the HDR guide for the kind of depth this review goes into.
Good fit if you want to use HNCS HDR properly but the documentation gap has made it hard to know whether you're set up correctly.
Not a fit if you're not shooting RAW or have no interest in HDR output.
I take 2-3 engagements per month. If I'm booked out, I'll let you know the next available window.
How the Engagement Works
1. Fill out the form below. Tell me what you're working on, what's not working, and what you've already tried.
2. I review and reply within 48 hours. If I can help, I'll send a payment link. If not, I'll tell you why and point you somewhere better.
3. All work is delivered async as a written report. If you'd like to walk through the findings live, a 30-minute Zoom call is included at no extra cost.
