ImageIntact is a Mac backup app I started building a while back to address the very specific needs of photographers. Specifically photographers who don't want to have to be IT specialists to ensure their digital assets are safe.

As all of us know, making backups of our images, both the RAWs and the final versions is critical. But traditional backup apps tend to over-complicate things, and assume a level of IT competency that regular non-Tech folks just don't have. So one of two primary goals is to make things as simple as possible, and not make any assumptions about user IT knowledge.

The other primary goal of the app is to also ensure that the backed up image files are exact and identical copies of the originals. Just because the file copy seems to have completed successfully doesn't mean the copy is identical. There are many reasons this happens, and to be fair it doesn't happen often, but it happens. ImageIntact checks every copy against the original at a bit level and alerts you if the copy didn't succeed.

If you've been using a version downloaded from my repository on GitHub, thank you. I appreciate you trying it out. I'd love all of you to try the Mac App Store version though. It's free, but the upgrade experience is a lot lower friction when I ship updates.

You can get the Mac App Store version here

If you've been running a previous version you downloaded manually from GitHub, please find it in your Applications folder and delete it before installing the Mac App Store version.

And as always I'd love any feedback. Either bugs, or even better, feature requests. Feel free to shoot me a mail on konrad@tonalphoto.com.
